Excellent spectacle

Bravo and my heartfelt thanks to my friend Richard, Sébastien, Roger (the band's Musical Director), Charles, Bernard, Nicolas, and Yannick, the members of TRAMP OF THE CENTURY, having delivered for the audience at Calistoga Grill an absolutely unforgettable show and performance, in the class of the finest, most brilliant tributes to Supertramp you can ever see. It was my first time seeing them and I can assure them that I am definitely a diehard fan.
Supertramp and Quebec have a very special relationship, just like with a number of other bands, especially in the genre of Progressive Rock. They became stars here in Quebec before the rest of North America. Montrealers who were concert goers in the 70's ask a very famous question: "Were you at Jarry Park?", referring to a very well known outdoor sold out concert of Supertramp. Roger Hodgson to this day has no difficulty selling out several consecutive nights at Place des Arts. So think about it, with this degree of love for the band, to be a successful tribute to Supertramp in Quebec one must certainly do justice and represent the same caliber of musicianship that made those classic albums so precious. The tribute band's founder Roger Léclerc knew he had a big challenge on his hands. Supertramp's music has very complex arrangements and harmonies but at the same time is so melodic. Roger fortunately achieved his goal. He handpicked every member and what he created has delighted Quebec audiences now for over 10 years.
The level of musicianship of this tribute band is astonishing. I already knew Richard and Sébastien from the Deep Purple tribute band Purple in Rock. The fact that these two can play the parts of Blackmore and Jon Lord, that demonstrates their quality as players, and they bring that gift to TOTC. Richard does the guitar parts of Roger Hodgson and the vocal parts of Rick Davies with perfect, flawless tonality. Sébastien in addition to being a virtuoso on the keys is such an animated and dynamic performer. Add to that Yannick's immense vocal range (BTW Yannick is the great, great, great etc Grand Nephew of the composer Stravinsky), Roger's versatility on the piano, Nicolas's mastery of groove on the drums, Charles (a tenured university Sociology Professor by day) providing the rock solid rhythm section on the bass, and Bernard on saxophone combining impeccable Jazz chops with the wailing sax of Rock and Roll, all those elements combined explain why we were so awestruck.
If after the show you concluded that that this was one of the greatest live experiences you have ever had, you would be bloody well right and you got the bloody right to say it. It's only logical.
Can't wait to see you guys again. Many thanks to Elaine Lemire for the fabulous photo!
